Spey Reels

Spey casting originated in the heart of Scotland in the mid-1800s. The name comes from the River Spey in Scotland, which is where the cast originated, presumably at Gordon Castle Estate and Wester Elchies beat. Therefore, the Spey cast was developed so one could successfully cast on a large river such as the Spey. When Spey casting was introduced, 22-foot rods were used. These rods were made of greenheart, a heavy wood imported from British Guyana. Today, rods are only 12 to 15 feet in length, and can toss a line up to 80 feet.

Farlex is leading the charge in the Spey World's modern classic clicker reels. One look at this mastery in machining, and the absolutely beautiful classic lines of the raised pillars and "S" handle, will make you want one for yourself... Galvan Torque

Torque Reels

The visually striking appearance of the Torque reels is a result of the unique cut-outs on the frame, spool, drag knob and reel foot. This design is not only aesthetic but also structural as it significantly reduces the weight of the reel while maintaining strength and increasing rigidity .The rounded rims on both spool and frame enhance durability to better withstand impact during extreme angling conditions.

At first glance, the hand is drawn to the reel and from the first crank of the contoured counter balanced spool, the reel's quality is apparent. It is a combination of efficiency and simplicity driven by function. In this case, less is more and cost is no exception as Torque reels retail at half the price of reels in its class.
